with Amaris Leon, Sheriff Accountability Action

Our February webinar will feature Amaris Leon, Director of Local Campaigns & Advocacy for Sheriff Accountability Action. Amaris is a U.S. Supreme Court-barred attorney and an electoral strategist with a focus on constitutional office elections and decarceral policies.

Since 2017, Sheriff Accountability Action has worked to reduce harm, build real safety, and reshape the institution of the sheriff, with a focus on three key projects:

  • Growing the movement for sheriff accountability
  • Testing local approaches to accountability and alternative models of safety
  • Ending the epidemic of death in U.S. jails
