Jim Lawrence (he/him) has held leadership roles at for profit & nonprofit organizations, most recently Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Expertus Inc., a global provider of business execution software and services for the corporate learnings market, and President of the Board of FacesSF, a San Francisco based nonprofit providing childcare services for economically challenged families. Always looking to do his part to make the world better, he is active in his community, having served as a Chair person of the San Mateo County District Lines Advisory Commission, Planning Commissioner, Mayor and member of the city council for the city of Foster City.
Jim had this to say about his commitment to FxSMC’s mission: “My decision to join Fixin’ SMC was driven by the existence of systematic and structural racism preventing many of our county’s residents from fully enjoying the benefits of living in San Mateo County, especially the unfair, unequal, and unlawful treatment of people of color by the county Sheriff’s Office. Board members are the fiduciaries who guide the organization towards a sustainable future, and most importantly, ensure the organization advances its mission.”
Jim holds an MBA from the University of Dayton, BA from Tennessee State University, and is a licensed Registered Representative. Once a competitive runner of marathons, he now focuses on the nuances of bike racing.
