Nancy Goodban (she/her) was born in Oakland and has lived in Redwood City since 2006. She worked as an administrator, researcher and consultant in health and human services for 40 years, holding deputy director positions in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz county social services agencies and successfully leading community-wide initiatives involving a variety of stakeholders. After retirement, Nancy developed and led statewide Affordable Care Act training for county social service agencies. She helped to found the nonprofit Sacred Rok and chaired it for 10 years, helping foster youth and those in juvenile hall to experience the healing of nature at Yosemite National Park.
Nancy has a Ph.D. in Social and Organizational Psychology from Harvard University, and has been a political activist/volunteer since her teens. Her interest in civilian oversight of the Sheriff stems from concerns about police violence against people of color including turning immigrants who have completed their sentences over to ICE.
